Chantal Agapiti is a 43-year wise woman.
She writes to help and motivate others. The author cares and understands because she’s one of you: a Trauma survivor, Chronic pain warrior.
Chantal is introverted, highly sensitive, and neurodivergent, yet super focused. And she’s a thought instigator who loves to make you question all that is life.
Her first book was a motivational memoir called Drops of Life Experience. She shares her life’s lessons to show you can improve your quality of life despite adversity.
Chantal left the rat race at 41 and launched herself as a freelancer to help people on her terms.
Hard? As h*ll.
Scary? Of course.
Worth it? Definitely.
The author has yet to find a mute button to put her mind to rest, so she keeps it busy by building LEGO, making a puzzle, and taking a quiz. Chantal also enjoys taking pictures and watching sports because they are exciting and inspiring.
Meet Author Chantal Agapiti:
What’s your favorite genre?
Nonfiction, as real life has it all.
Do you have any inspirational quotes you live by?
I do. The one that inspired parts of my literary baby comes from Mother Teresa: “If you can’t help everyone, just help one.”
What was the first piece you ever wrote? (if you’re comfortable feel free to tell us a little about it).
When I was eight, I started writing a Fantasy story about a girl named Olivia who appeared to have special powers. I finished it when I was about twelve, but unfortunately, after going around, I never got it back from the last reader.
Was there anything else you wanted to be, besides a writer, when you were a kid?
I actually wanted to be a Criminologist until I saw The Silence of the Lambs and saw what it could entail. Jody Foster’s character has that job, and I knew then and there that I was too sensitive to handle it.
What is one kind of character (baker, ghost, strong female character) that every book you enjoy has in it?
I don’t have a favorite kind of character, I just want to see their truth. I want to read about real people dealing with real issues.
What’s the biggest plot twist you never saw coming? (In any form of media)
I can predict plots most of the time, but with the Sixth Sense I was surprised when Bruce Willis’s character appeared to be a ghost.
What’s your favorite show to binge-watch?
I haven’t for some time, but in the past I binge watched: Grey’s Anatomy and Sex and the City.
What do you do to unwind from stress?
I still haven’t found an effective method, but taking me-time is essential.
What are some helpful tips you would give a fellow writer who’s having a hard time plotting, developing, etc.?
Step away from your desk and live your life, it’s when you stop obsessing about it that inspiration will come to you.
What would you tell your younger self not to care about?
I would tell her to be smart and put her time and energy into the ones who reciprocate.
What is something that you’ve learned and grown from over the last year?
Life’s too short to wait for things to unfold the way you want them to. If you believe in something, do the work and make it happen.
What’s the best way to tackle challenges?
Face them head-on.
Indoors or Outdoors?
It depends on the Outdoors.
If you had a soundtrack to your life, right now, what would the first five songs be?
November Rain (Guns ‘n Roses)
Killing in the Name (Rage Against the Machine)
Ich Will (Rammstein)
In The End (Linkin Park)
A Te (Jovanotti)
What is the loftiest goal you’d like to reach as a writer?
I wish I could make a living out of my writing.
Do you have any words/tropes you won’t write in your genre?
I don’t exclude anything per se, but I believe in taking the time to think about the words you use. Especially dealing with harsh topics, as I do, I don’t feel the need to be too graphic. When you use the right words, they’ll tell enough. No need to be too explicit, which can be hurtful. It’s the message I want to convey that matters, not single events.
