Eliza lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and two dogs. When she’s not writing, she can be found reading, hiking, doing yoga, or at her “real job” as a political science professor.

Though the Hideaway Mountain series is her debut published work, Eliza has been writing since she was a kid (was even presented with the esteemed “Future Novelist” award in her fifth-grade class), and has an undergraduate degree in creative writing.

She is happy to finally be realizing a lifelong dream of publishing her written work.

If you could be friends with one character in your debut novel who would it be? Why?

Flora Wallace, the FMC of my debut novella Hideaway Inn. She’s loosely based on me and my family, so it makes sense that we’d be friends—though it’s entirely possible we’d be too alike!

If you could live in any fictional town, city, or world what would it be?

I think it’s fair to say I’d want to live in a fictional town I created—so definitely Hideaway

Mountain, Colorado. I currently live in Denver but grew up in the mountains, and Hideaway

Mountain was inspired by the best parts of all the small Colorado mountain towns I’ve visited.

Do you have any inspirational quotes you live by?

“If there’s a book you want to read, but it hasn’t been written, then you must write it.” ~Toni

Morrison

What is a goal you’re still waiting to start?

I actually have two unfinished historical romance novels I started back in college—one set in 1800s Colorado and the other in WWII-era France. I’d love to revisit and finish them someday.

Interestingly, they both feature enemies-to-lovers plots, which has since become the trope I find the most challenging to write!

Was there anything else you wanted to be, besides a writer, when you were a kid?

A singer and an actress—so, still very much rooted in storytelling, just in different forms.

What is one kind of character (baker, ghost, strong female character) that every book you

enjoy has in it?

A character with a traumatic past who’s fought tooth and nail to find their version of a happily ever after—whatever that looks like for them.
