Meet Author Tracey King

Tracey King was born in Michigan but grew up in Georgia, where she still lives to this day.

She happily resides with her husband, two teenagers, her pitbull mix named Molly, and her Siamese cat named Chloe.

Tracey discovered horror at a young age, watching The Exorcist at the age of

six and finding her older sister's Stephen King books around the age of ten.

She’s been hooked on horror ever since. Tracey also enjoys true crime podcasts, gaming, and adding things to her cart on Amazon and then saving them for later.

What’s your favorite genre?

My favorite genre is horror! I love a good scare. However, I will read almost any genre.

Was there anything else you wanted to be, besides a writer, when you were a kid?

I always wanted to work with animals. I had wanted to be a vet for the longest time. Books

have been a huge part of my life and I wanted to be a writer since I was in middle school.

What’s your favorite show to binge watch?

I can’t pick just one so I would have to say Dexter, Friends, Last of Us, Yellowjackets, and

Mandalorian.

What do you do to unwind from stress?

My husband and I love to game and are currently obsessed with playing Don’t Starve

Together. I also love to read!

What are some helpful tips you would give a fellow writer who’s having a hard time plotting, developing, etc.?

First tip would be, think about what interests you! What would you want to read? Once you

figure that out, sit down and take each thing one step at a time. Create your main character,

develop the world your story is based in, and then tackle more of the plot.

Another helpful tip I use is talking it out, whether it's to a friend, spouse, or a rubber duck. Saying it out loud really helps me to work out the kinks.

Indoors or Outdoors?

I love the outdoors when it’s cool outside! I love to camp, hike, or just sit on a lounge chair

and read. Otherwise, I am quite the homebody.

What is your loftiest goal you’d like to reach as a writer?

My dream has always been to write a short story or novel that is made into a movie or TV

series.
