Ligia de Wit, the author of the Bradaís Pledge series—a fantasy romance adventure with a unique twist on pirates and a touch of twisted Peter Pan vibes.
Writing in two languages has been both a challenge and a rewarding journey, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Beyond writing, loves getting lost in a good book, watching movies, indulging in delicious meals, exploring new cities, hiking through forests, and—when the mood strikes—acting like a total goof at theme parks.
She's a kid at heart and owns it!
If you love characters who are strong in more than just a physical sense—who face their fears, embrace their vulnerabilities, and carve out their place in the world—then you’re in the right place. Join her in my world of adventure, romance, and just the right amount of magic.
Meet Ligia de Wit
Do you have any inspirational quotes you live by?
"Know thyself." Yes, I know it can be cheesy, but it’s actually the best piece of advice one could receive—yet we don’t really care for it. We grow up more concerned about others than ourselves, more focused on what happens to them rather than understanding ourselves.
What is one kind of character (baker, ghost, strong female character) that every book you enjoy has in it?
One that makes me laugh—someone who is silly at moments you wouldn’t expect or just outrageously funny because they say the most inappropriate things.
What’s the biggest plot twist you never saw coming? (In any form of media)
Oooh, that would be Red Lights, starring Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro, and Cillian Murphy. I aim to write something like that one day. It was beautiful to watch.
What do you do to unwind from stress?
Walk the dog. He loves it, and so do I. After being cooped up behind a computer all day, it gives my eyes and soul a rest.
What are some helpful tips you would give a fellow writer who’s having a hard time plotting, developing, etc.?
You can’t fix a blank page. If you don’t write, you can’t edit your musings. That whole thing about staring at a white page and not writing but still considering it “writing”? Yeah, no. So fill that blank page with words while switching off your inner editor. Let it be terrible. Let it be crap. That’s okay—magic comes from the ashes.
If your core main characters could say one thing about you, what do you think (or hope) they would say?
"You put us through hell, but we survived—and we’re stronger for it!"
