Meet Robert King II:

If you could be friends with one character in your debut novel, who would it be? Why?

I’d be friends with Mub, the confidential informant. He has a good heart and is extremely

loyal—maybe to a fault.

What’s your favorite genre?

Horror. Supernatural, folk, fantasy, paranormal, grief, monster, etc. I stay away from

gore for gore’s sake or anything crazy erotic. I don’t judge other people for reading it, they’re just not my thing.

What is your favorite food?

-Pizza! Especially buffalo chicken.

What was the first piece you ever wrote?

The first thing I remember…as a high school freshman in a creative writing class, I

wrote a SAW knockoff (when I say knockoff, I mean I basically just wrote the novelization of my own SAW movie lol) that had to be read aloud. I’m super introverted, so I had someone else read it, and it grossed out the class, which was fun.

What are some helpful tips you would give a fellow writer who’s having a hard time plotting, developing, etc.?

It’s extremely cliché, but the biggest tip is: just write!

I read an interview with someone

years ago (I think it was Mark Waid) who said writer’s block isn’t real, and you’re just on the

wrong path. Keep writing, and you’ll eventually find the correct path.

I adapted that mindset, and it turned out to be true.

What is your loftiest goal you’d like to reach as a writer?

To be an author full-time, of course!
